Stronger or Older?

“Rather, you must grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. All glory to him, both now and forever! Amen.” — 2 Peter 3:18

A man asked his neighbor, “What’s your son going to be when he graduates?” “Older,” he replied.

God has not called us to get older, but to get stronger. The Father’s desire is that we bring glory to Him. For this reason he has called us to life–and that is a call to growth. Growth requires action and action necessitates trust.

Look at this process in its simplest form:

Trust > Action > Growth > Life > Glory to God

Is this the process that God is taking you through? Where do you find yourself in His plan? It is regrettable to say, but most of us are planning our own lives and doing our own thing.

Many spend their lives doing religious things…going through the motions. God has their attention but not their action. They have a profession but not a possession. They get older but not stronger.

Don’t settle. Don’t take the “path of least resistance.” Don’t dawdle along with the crowd and end up with a life that is both emaciated and empty. Growth is an active partnership with God in an endeavor called “life!”
