“Now may the God of peace—who brought up from the dead our Lord Jesus, the great Shepherd of the sheep, and ratified an eternal covenant with his blood—may he equip you with all you need for doing his will. May he produce in you, through the power of Jesus Christ, every good thing that is pleasing to him. All glory to him forever and ever! Amen.”
— Hebrews 13:20-21
My problem with my laptop computer is that, in itself, it has limited power. The problem really shows up when I am away from a power source. Sometimes I find myself with six hours of typing and two hours of battery time.
My limited power means limited accomplishment. When my laptop is plugged into a regular power source, it has basically unlimited power; which means unlimited possibilities.
Now, if you’ve been living for Jesus Christ very long, that power equation probably sounds familiar to you…or it should. Your resources run out. That doesn’t mean you’re done—not if you plug into His. His resources never run out!
When God says in his word that He will “equip you with all you need for doing His will,” that is where we can plug in our fading battery. There is nothing you need to carry out and complete what He wants you to do that He is not going to provide.
When you’re out of strength, He’s not. When you can’t take another step, His strength starts to carry you—so you can keep going when you don’t have anything else to go with!
When you need wisdom to carry out what He’s given you to do, He’s promised to give it to you liberally upon request (James 1:5). When I don’t know what to say, how to respond, or how to proceed; that’s the time to abandon the finite battery of what we know and plug into the infinite power of what God knows.
When you’re out of creativity and out of ideas, again, plug into His. When you’re out of answers, out of love and out of patience; He’s not—so you don’t have to be!
God is committed to give you everything you need to do and to finish what He’s given you to do. So plug in…when you don’t have enough to finish!
